Top of the Mañana to You

New year, new blog. That is my resolution. I’ve been on a serious blogging hiatus while Matt and I moved and got our lives sorted out, but I’m happy to say that I’m back and ready to revamp the blog. My European adventures certainly have not ended – some of you may have been wondering why I dropped off the blogosphere so suddenly. In fact, I now have a new European home base and I am ready to share everything that I can about it. So, without further ado, welcome back to “Top of the Morning to You” from sunny and beautiful España!

It’s funny to look back at my blog a year ago and see how much things have changed. My New Year’s resolutions for 2011 make me giggle, but they also give me a lot of insight into who I was a year ago. Everything was so new and the world seemed so big. As for fulfilling those resolutions, I’d say I did a fair job. 🙂 In hindsight, though, it’s hard to make a resolution for an entire year when you cannot foresee a big life change. And a big life change certainly did happen for us.

After we left Ireland, we traveled down Western Europe for the vacation of a lifetime. We then spent quite a bit of time back in Texas visiting family and friends before embarking on our new expedition. And now, here we are. It feels like just yesterday that I was in the land of rain, pubs, sheep, and miles of green. I am now in the land of sunshine, language barriers, monkeys, and Mediterranean Sea. Every day brings a new and interesting challenge, but remembering that I have this space to share every minute of it makes things more exciting.

I am going to have to leave you in anticipation for today, though. When I came back to emilyeneurope, I needed to reacquaint myself and reintroduce you. Setting the scene is where I’ll begin. Starting tomorrow, I cannot wait to go into detail about Spanish culture, the differences between life in Ireland to life now, and that odd little British Colony called Gibraltar just a short car ride away.

Stay tuned!

Happy to see the blog up and running again!

  2. Hey! Are you living in Granada now? That’s where I lived! So glad to see you’re enjoying your adventures in Europe…I’m quite impressed!

  3. Hey Deighton! We are actually living about 2 and a half hours south of Granada, on the coast of the Mediterranean on the Costa del Sol. But we went to Granada over the holidays and I loved it!!! I can’t wait to go back. I love your pics of Leilani…she is so adorable! I hope things are going well!

  4. Hi there!

SO happy to see you blogging again! What brought you to Spain? Was it difficult to find work there? Was it hard to make the transition to moving to a new place again?

Looking forward to reading more 🙂

  5. Hey vegburger!

We moved to Spain for my partner’s job. I thought it would be really hard to find work, but I was so lucky to find a freelancing gig that has me working almost full time. Gibraltar is full of gaming industry, so being a freelance writer/editor could keep me busy. And yes, it was definitely hard making the transition. I made Ireland my home, so it was hard to leave my friends, job, and life there. But, I just went back for the week to visit, so I’ll be blogging about that soon enough!
